Over the last number of years, I dove into several topics that I had not considered. In 2017 I got my yoga teachers certificate, and proceeded to learn about herbalism, alternative women's health, Ayurveda, astrology, pagan ceremony, doula work and all the things. I've tried a few times to make a business out of it, but as the solo income earner in my family, it's been tough to dive all in. And I've hosted and explored being a leader and hosting events and it exhausted me. Then in 2021, I thought to take my experiences and knowledge and put it into a book. I have loved writing my whole life and starting a book has filled me up like leading events never did. Now I'm at the awkward editing stage and building an audience stage before figuring out how I want to print it...

Maybe you could start sharing about the ´behind the scene’ of writing that book, editing, printing… There are so many writers here on Substack that it would probably resonate a lot with those who might be in similar stages.

You know, I thought of that and dismissed it because I feel that I know so little. But what I do know is unique to me and valuable to share! Thank you for the nudge.

This 12 Chapters Club proved a very good push to keep pulling that thread 😉

Yes, it is! I'm a little bit nervous as I'm still not have a clue for all my chapters 🤭

You’re not alone! I don’t have any kind of outline - just following the chronology so far - and I don’t even know if that’s a book I’m writing. But having that accountability helps me stay consistent with that memoir-like exploration. We’ll see how that ends 😉

This is so inspirational. I keep thinking about maybe a change in my life (not to wine but just something different than a corporate career) and reading stories like this is wonderful. I can’t wait to see what treats you have in store for us over the coming weeks and months. ☺️

Thank you for your comment Victoria. Pivoting to the wine world was quite unexpected for me back then - and so was becoming self-employed after 10 years in a corporate career. So you never know what the future has in store. My only advice would be to listen to your heart, explore, and experiment - even if it is only a tiny experiment to tread water - because it's easier to gain clarity through engagement. More than 10 years later, I find myself pivoting again in a different direction, and I apply the same method: listen to what my heart is telling me and find a way to experiment what's the best way to answer that call.

I love this. “It’s easier to gain clarity through engagement” - this is so apposite.

How fascinating. What a wonderful way to evolve and grow, so refreshing. ‘Sip of Corsica’ now makes perfect sense. I wonder what tasting notes you will have in store for us.

Thank you Michela for your comment. It's funny you mentioned the link between 'sip' and wine in the name because I indeed got the first inspiration for the name 'Sip of Corsica' in July 2022, while I was still very much involved in the wine world. And yet, when I decided to use this name when I started writing on Substack, it was mainly for other meanings behind the word 'sip'. You gave me an idea for a future post where I could maybe explain a bit more why I chose this name.

Though I'm still in touch with the wine world via my life partner who operates wine tours in Corsica, I'm no longer involved in it myself, so I won't share tasting notes here. But I may very well bring some of my 'old life' back from time to time (probably more around the people making the wine because I've always been passionate about the people behind the bottles).

Wine tours… mmm! Corsica introduced us to pale rose. I was thinking of tasting notes more broadly, rather than for wine… Another possibility perhaps.

This beautiful description of a crossroads caught my attention scrolling through notes. "Have you ever found yourself at a crossroads, completely lost and not knowing what direction to choose?

Feeling like the straightforward path you’ve been following your whole life suddenly doesn’t make sense anymore — like it’s a dead end — but looking at the other path with uncertainty and apprehension? And what if you couldn’t even see another path?"

I had to pause, read, and click over here to the post, because it reminded me so much of a paragraph in my book (Dare to Decide: Discovering Peace, Clarity and Courage at Life's Crossroads). Because of writing that book mentions and pictures of crossroads pause me. I'm fascinated by the concept, the stories, the transformations that happen because of crossroads moments. Thank you for sharing yours, a slow unfolding journey spurred by a little curiosity. : D

Thank you for commenting Emily. I didn’t know your book, but you sparked my curiosity because crossroads have been a recurring metaphor in my life. I’ve changed direction a few times and each time I chose the unknown/less traveled path, it led to positive transformation.
